Included in your Registration Forms is a questionier called Medical History. It will include some of these questions:
When was your last period? Month/Date/Year
How often do you get your period?
Do you feel any pain during or after sex?
Are you using birth control?
Are you trying to get pregnant?
You will be asked about past and present illnesses, allergies, surgeries, and pregnancies. You will also be asked if you smoke and how much or if you have used street drugs in the last six months or drink alcohol. These questions are necessary for The Woman's Wellness Center, P.C. to give you the best care available.
You will be taken to an examination room by one of our clinical staff. She will takes your blood pressure and prepare your chart for the physician by asking you some questions. She will then give you an exam sheet and jacket and ask you to undress for the procedure after she leaves the room. Feel free to speak with our clinical staff if you have any questions. Our clinical members act as liaisons between patient and physician. They also provide patient education to complete a continuum of care.
After you are ready, your nurse and your provider will come in. Your provider will complete the following:
A Brief General Physical Exam
Check your neck (Thyroid)
Listen to your heart
Ask you questions about your general health
A Breast Exam
Your provider will feel your breasts for unusual soreness and for lumps. Then your provider will dicuss if you've ever done a self breast exam and give you information on how to do them correctly. View anatomy & normal development.
The Pelvic Exam and Pap Smear
Your provider will ask you to lie back on the exam table, "scoot down" toward the end, put your feet in the stirrups, and relax your knees. This will allow your provider to examine your outer genitals for any changes or abnormalities, and (when you are ready) to gently insert an instrument called a speculum into your vagina. Breathing deeply and focusing on relaxing your pelvic muscles will increase your comfort during this part of the exam. |
